Your hardwood floors have taken years of wear - scratches, dullness, discoloration, and traffic patterns have diminished their once-stunning appearance. Professional refinishing brings them back to life at a fraction of the cost of replacement. At Mansion Hill Custom Floors, we use state-of-the-art equipment to restore hardwood floors throughout Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Whether your floors need a simple refresh or complete restoration, our skilled craftsmen have the expertise to deliver exceptional results. We've restored floors in century-old homes, updated spaces with modern stain colors, and repaired damage from water, pets, and everyday wear. With over 50 years of combined experience, we know how to work with all wood species, finishes, and conditions.

The Refinishing Process

1. Initial Assessment

Every refinishing project begins with a thorough assessment. We inspect your floors to determine wood thickness, existing finish type, damage extent, and whether refinishing is possible. Not all floors can be refinished - we'll give you an honest evaluation. We identify problem areas like deep scratches, water stains, pet damage, or structural issues that need special attention.

2. Preparation & Protection

We carefully prepare your space by removing furniture (or we can help coordinate moving services), protecting walls, doorways, and fixtures with plastic containment systems. Our dust containment equipment captures 99% of sanding dust, keeping your home cleaner than traditional refinishing methods. We seal off work areas to prevent dust migration throughout your home.

3. Professional Sanding

Our multi-stage sanding process uses progressively finer grits to create perfectly smooth surfaces. We begin with coarse-grit sanders to remove old finish and level the floor, then progress through medium and fine grits for a silky-smooth result. Edge sanders handle areas along walls and in corners. Our experienced operators avoid over-sanding, preserving maximum wood thickness for future refinishing decades from now.

4. Staining

Want to change your floor's color? We offer unlimited custom stain options. Whether you're going lighter, darker, or trying gray tones, we'll create samples on your actual floor so you can see exactly how the stain interacts with your specific wood species.

5. Finish Application

Your choice of finish sheen (matte, satin, semi-gloss, or gloss) dramatically affects your floor's final appearance. We apply multiple coats with proper drying time between each, building a protective layer that resists scratches, moisture, and daily wear. We work with water-based, oil-based and natural oil finishes to ensure we get the correct application for your floor.
